This album contains a spirited concert of Gospel music by the young people of a tropical Pacific island 3,000 miles south and west of Hawaii. Traditional and contemporary songs are presented in English as well as in the native language of the group. The 43-voice choir is directed by Rev. Godaro Lorrin, a talented young musician of Mokil Atoll, ancestral home of the singers. The young people, all members of the Danpei Youth Choir of the United Church of Christ, Sokehs, Ponape Island, East Caroline Islands, toured the United States for twelve weeks during the summer of 1980. Their unique Micronesian style fascinated and inspired audiences in 25 state – from California to Florida to Maine and back to the West Coast, Rev. Edlen Buck, Protestant Chaplain on the Kwajalein Missile Range, Marshall Islands, organized the group’s tour. His daughter, Lauren Buck, was assistant tour director and technical advisor for this album.
